Relaciones de Agua

in collaboration with Claudia Bertoletti

How can we rethink the relationship we have with water? How can our water choices transform the worlds we live in? What if the future of buildings have integrated closed loop water recycling systems?

Water is one of the necessary conditions for all forms of life, a resource becoming a scarcity in many places where drought and

Collecting grey water in apartments can be challenging due to space constraints, limited resources and might come at high economic costs for installation and maintenance. But what if the building itself could act as a grey water collection, storage and circulation unit already integrated into the construction, providing isolation and allowing life to flourish, housing plants and other species? Where collection, storing and filtering of grey water for non drinking purposes, such as showers, flushing toilets, irrigation and watering plants is integrated into the walls. With the present technologies available as tools to monitor quality and preset self watering systems, vertical gardens and growing your own food become easy and accessible to the many. Reusing grey water can help conserve fresh water resources, reduce strain on municipal water treatment systems, as well as reduce the amount of wastewater released into the environment. With water acting as isolation it can heat and cool the building when transported through the building acting similar to central heating.
